Deinós is a critical journal produced by the Department of Languages, Philosophy, Religion, and Cultures of Rockford University.
Scholarly criticism, both in text and in practice, brings together the capacity for interpretation and intuition, demanding from scholars the intellectual flexibility and adaptability called for by their object of analysis.
Each artistic work demands an analytical reading that responds to the rhetorical and sociocultural characteristics of that text. Letting ourselves be molded by these while being guided by our intuition, inspiration, and technical skill is our objective.
At the same time, a single text can provoke contrary interpretations that are both conflicting and, by the same token, complementary.
We understand scholarly criticism to be mode of action and creation. A strange mixture of reasoning and enthousiasmós. Logos as pathos.
Deinós is a space, precisely, to read, to write and to emphasize how beauty can be, sometimes, the beginning of terror.

Deinós es una revista de crítica realizada desde el Departamento de Lenguas, Filosofía, Religión y Culturas de Rockford University.
La crítica, la que nos mueve, tanto en su lectura como en su ejercicio, hace confluir exégesis y sensibilidad; pide de un crítico ductilidad y capacidad de adaptación de acuerdo con su objeto de análisis.
Cada texto artístico demanda propuestas de lectura según sus características retóricas y socioculturales. Dejarse llevar hacia ellas con intuición, estro y habilidad técnica es nuestro objetivo.
A su vez, una misma obra puede mover a ideas y análisis opuestos, enfrentados y, por ello mismo, complementarios.
Entendemos la crítica como un modo de acción y de creación. Extraña mezcla de razonamiento y enthousiasmós. El logos como pathos.
Deinós es un espacio, precisamente, para leer y escribir, para hacer énfasis en la belleza que es, al mismo tiempo, el comienzo de lo terrible.
